One Island has begun working under USDA Rural Business Development Grant funding to conduct a two year asset mapping and needs assessments for Makers in San Juan County WA. The primary partner in this project is the non-profit San Juan Makers Guild.
One important part of the RBDG project is developing the San Juan Makers Guild web directory and resource center.
Another component is developing online surveys to capture data that helps tell the story of the creative and manufacturing industry Makers on the San Juan Islands. These surveys are part of providing Asset Mapping and Needs Assessment products. That combined economic development information will then help inform a Makers Study, being prepared by the Northwest Agricultural Business Center, to provide an over view of market opportunities in the western and national regions.
