Home School Experience – mother of five homeschooled children, three of whom are college graduates with one recently completing her PhD. One other is enrolled in a community college and the fifth runs his own computer network business.

Program Director, 2006-current
Currently directing the Kohala Green School as a home school enrichment and family involvement program for grades 4th-12th and multi-generational learning activites.
In previous projects, responsible for identifying projects/partners/funding sources, developing/hosting/managing sustainability education programs, securing grant funding, marketing of programs, recruitment of volunteers and participants, fiscal management, and reporting to funders on project accomplishments that required strong organizational and management skills focused on meeting deadlines and deliverables. Collaborated with over two dozen community organizations on sustainability strategy projects. Designed and produced three cycles of sustainability education programs serving over 2,500 participants. Demonstrated leadership, collaborative and team building skills.
- Education and Stewardship Training: developed and managed transformational education programs for youth, college students and adults in the areas of personal development, multi-cultural studies, sustainable living, natural resource and watershed conservation, renewable energy, waste management, green buildings, sustainable agriculture, health and wellness, human communication skills, and green job training. Developed a residential and volunteer stewardship training program for college students, hosted youth camps for 5th-12th grade students, and hosted AmeriCorps NCCC volunteers. Assisted students and adults in analyzing their consumption patterns and developing plans for behavioral change leading to resource and cost savings.
- Development: wrote and managed federal and state funded projects totaling $2.3 million for sustainable living, renewable energy, local food system, distance learning, and green job training (USDA, HUD, State of Hawaii Labor).
- Facility: Managed a 10 acre education facility with 7,000 square foot built footprint that used solar power, water catchment, green building materials, composting.
- Marketing: Developed and managed web, print and media outreach materials to brand and market sustainability programs to the community and to document progress and success of projects. Edited a bi-weekly web-based newsletter, social media, and in-depth online web resource center. Represented the program at environmental, sustainability, and local food system festivals and conferences.
Full Circle Learning Network, Santa Barbara, CA, Santa Fe, NM, and Honaunau, HI
Director of Education and Development, 1992 – 2006
Responsible for designing/implementing and managing one of the first Internet-based learning environments in the country to engage students, teachers, and families in online, field trip and classroom/campus learning activities. Students used our web-based curriculum resources, interacted with their peers through synchronous study and conversation groups, hosted family nights where the students became the guides for their elder’s introduction to this new communication technology, and attended field trips to sites related to their online studies. Summer teacher training were supported by school year online and in classroom support. Responsible for full life cycle of programs including grant writing, budget management, promotion, delivery, reporting and dissemination.
- Education Program Leadership: developed and managed the Camp Internet online distance learning program serving 250 K-12 classrooms in Southern California, Hawaii, Arizona and New Mexico. Entailed extensive online curriculum development, in-person teacher training, on-site student project support, and off-site teacher and student field trips to state and national parks. Integrated a curriculum of environmental science, history, art, gardening and multi-cultural studies. The program was honored to receive a Smithsonian Technology Innovation Award and multiple distance learning grants.
- Development Director: wrote and competed successfully for eight federal, state and private foundation grants totaling $4.65 million including a US Dept. of Education Technology Challenge Grant. Managed the funded projects and performed all fiscal and progress reporting.
- Marketing and Recruitment: branded the Camp Internet program through online, print, conference, trade show, and educational learning product / materials development. Recruited participants in four states including Native American, Micronesian and Native Hawaii serving schools. Presented at multiple education conferences in California, Hawaii, Washington DC, Arizona and New Mexico.
- Facilities: managed a 2400 square foot learning lab in Santa Barbara and worked with the Los Angeles Unified, San Bernardino, University of Southern California, and Santa Fe Indian Schools for on-site facility use.

Past work experience has included providing research, interpretive exhibit and archival consulting services for firms, museums, historical sites and libraries in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Santa Barbara 1976-2003;
