Mushrooms are an excellent source of vegetarian protein and nutrition that are easy to grow. Gain hands-on experience inoculating your own mushroom kits as well as logs, which you can take home at the end of the workshop. We will also discuss how mushrooms can help repair damaged ecosystems and enhance the diversity and resilience of your farm, garden, and home.

Sustainable Papermaking

What are your lowest carbon footprint options for fiber? LOCAL plants!

paperTurning locally grown banana, kukui, wauke, cotton, dried flowers – even coffee beans – into paper is a whole lot of fun. And a wonderful way to recycle creatively. You can make cards, book marks, masks, dolls, sculptural reliefs and stretch your imagination at these fun workshops. Great for all ages.

Artist-in-Residence Susan O’Malley is our guest instructor and her own work includes locally sourced plant fibers and beautiful local plant dyes. Recently returned from a prestigious Artist-in- Residence at the Anderson Center in Minnesota, we’ll also have a chance to learn about her gallery exhibitions and unique dimensional pieces.
