9am Healing Plants with Kathleen Harrison
Botanical Dimensions is a non-profit organization that has been doing good work with plants for over twenty-five years. BD is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt entity, founded in California in 1985, and managed by the ethnobotanist Kathleen Harrison. The original mission was “to collect, protect, propagate and understand plants of ethno-medical significance and their lore.” We do all that and more. We work to preserve biodiversity, respecting natural ecosystems and traditions of ecological knowledge. We appreciate, study, and educate others about plants and mushrooms that are felt to be significant to cultural integrity and spiritual well-being.
Our purpose and passion are rooted in the folk-knowledge and uses—both traditional and contemporary—of the flora and fungi of our little planet. Ethnobotany—the relationship between plants and people—is the primary lens we look through in choosing our projects. Ethnobotany is a vast, branching area of study, filled with marvels, challenges and solutions.

10:30am Acupuncture with Stacey Sheppard
Stacey Shepard, LAc is the owner and acupuncturist at Tree of Life Community Acupuncture, located in Kainaliu, HI. During a trip to Africa in 2010 to practice acupuncture, Stacey realized that the practice of Oriental Medicine in the United States is flawed. Its designed for the wealthy and those with premium healthcare coverage. Unfortunately, a majority of Americans don’t fit into that picture and are unable to turn to Oriental Medicine in times of need. Therefore, after several years of private practice, Stacey opened a community clinic, making acupuncture affordable and accessible to the masses. Dr. Green specializes in muscle response testing (30 years experience) to detect imbalances in Life Force Energy (“chi”) flow, which can cause subtle muscle weakness around joints. This is a common reaction to the Stresses of Daily Living, but it often leads to altered joint biomechanics, localized pain, and vulnerability to further injury. Natural energy balance is restored by facilitating the patient’s innate healing ability, emphasizing techniques of prevention and self-maintenance. Dr. Green also performs appropriate gentle spinal adjustments to further restore the body’s dynamic postural balance and flexibility.
